Third Movie Night

National Youth Week 2012

Brisbane is celebrating National Youth week with various free activities perfect for Japan club!

Saturday, 14th April | 9am – 12pm

Manga graphic novel workshop
Sunnybank Hills Library
The style of Manga has evolved into a complex and beautiful art form. In this workshop Qantm College Animation Lecturer Katie Murphy will help you write and storyboard your own Manga masterpiece. Then, learn how to spruce it up with Manga illustration techniques – let your creativity run wild! All materials are provided in this course.

Second Movie Night

After a long break of Three weeks, Japan club is bringing to you our Second movie screening!

Time: Friday 20rd of April from 5pm onwards
Venue: N34_0.04 (Science 2)

At present we would like as many of you to arrive around 5pm. We will likely start the film around 5:15 or so. Feel free to bring along some munchies or as many friends as you like. We have a 54 person capacity though, so don’t go overboard!

K-20 Kaijin niju menso den K-20  怪人二十面相・伝
The Fiend with Twenty Faces

Feature Film: 20 December 2008 / 137 minutes
Director: Shimako Sato

Plot Summary: Story takes place in the 1940’s, in a fictional Japan, where the country is dominated by the upper class and the country suffers from a huge income disparity between the rich and poor. During this time, an evil masked villain named “K-20” roams around Japan stealing priceless artifacts. Always on the trail of K-20 is his arch nemesis Akechi – a suave detective. When Akechi announces his engagement to the rich heiress Yoko Hashiba, K-20 warns Akechi to call off the wedding or he’ll be there to make his biggest heist yet.

Plot Summary: While fighting to save his village from the attack of a demon-god, Ashitaka comes in contact with it and is inflicted with a deadly curse. In his search for a cure he is forced to leave his village forever and journey to the forest inhabited by animal gods. There he finds himself in the middle of a war between the forest gods and a village led by Lady Eboshi.

Time: 9:30AM (Taking 10:03AM Train)
Travel Time: 1hr 30mins approx 

Directions
- Take the half-hourly BDVX Train
(Domestic to Varsity Lakes Express) (1 hour)
- Hop off at Nerang Railway Station
- Hop on Bus 745 – Pacific Fair Express (15 mins)
- Arrive at Pacific Fair Shopping Centre!

Language Corner

In conjunction with Student Linx, Japan club would be participating in the one hour Japanese Session of Language Corner!

Time: 2:00pm – 3:00pm
Venue: N06 _0.25 (Patience Thoms, 0.25)

This is perfect for all Japanese Language learners of any level. It is an ideal place for Japanese Language exchange. Bring a pen, notebook and some questions like, how do I say this or that in Japanese etc.

This can also be a place for you to find someone with similar interests in Japan :)

Toki wo kakeru Shoujyo 時をかける少女
The Girl who Leapt through Time
